Weekend trip to Colombo …

Hello ...
Had to make a trip to Colombo ...
So took a long weekend ...
Flew in to Colombo on Thursday ...
And am back in Male' now ...
It was a good trip ... quite productive ...
Apollo hospital was clean and efficient ...
For a change, shopping was ok too ...
Zanzibar and Cinnamon Garden was kewl ... hehe ...
Only thing bad was the room in TransAsia ...
It was small, cramped and damp ...
All in all ... a good trip ...
Should visit Colombo again soon ...
It is bustling fun city ...

Visit to Huvadhu Atoll …

Hello ...
Last week ... it was hectic alright ...
Had to fly out to Huvadhu Atoll ...
Traveled all around the atoll ...
The weather wasn't so good ...
And the ride around the atoll was very tiring ...
The trip is gonna be unforgettable for 2 reasons ...
One ... the ride was so bumpy that ...
I hit my head hard on the launch door jamb ...
And got a cut right on top of my head ...
The cut was so bad i had to get a tetanus shot ...
Luckily, not so much blood was involved ...
Second thing was ...
I somehow managed to stop by my mum's island ...
My mum is originally from this atoll ...
Though it has been a very long time ...
Since she has been there ...
I stopped by the island for 15 - 20 mins ...
Had coffee with a cousin of mine ...
He told me that I was the only one ...
In my family who has not been there ...
And he was very happy that ...
I've finally managed to come ...
The feeling was mutual ...
I was happy to be there too ...
Kinda felt weird ... mixed feelings ...
A mix of alienation and a feeling of belonging ...
Dunno for sure ... have to give it a bit more thought ...

Southern most tip of Maldives …

Hello ...
Had to go to Addu yesterday ...
Great place ...
Never ceases to amaze me ...
After my work there was over ...
I had nothing to do ...
But to wait for my return flight ...
While waiting in a coffee shop ...
I was offered a ride and a tour ...
By a friend who is originally from Addu ...
I had a drive around town ...
The most significant part of the tour ...
Was the time a spent in south most part ...
It turns out ... that this location ...
Is the southern most tip of maldives ...
Meaning when we look out to see ...
From this location ...
Its end of the maldives ...
No more maldives ... or land mass ...
Kinda nice being there ... felt weird ...
Clicked a coupla of pictures as well ...
IMHO ... This location need to be made a feature ...
With a sign board and stuff ...
For others to enjoy ...
Am sure there'll be visitors ...
Who'd not wanna take a picture or two there ...

Naraka Fengandu …

Hello ...
Went to Laamu Atoll in the weekend …
Had to do some work there …
Good place … lotsa land … an airport …
Surrounded by a shallow lagoon …
That can be easily reclaimed … if the need be …
Saw lotsa potential in that place …
After my work was done … went sight seeing a bit …
The most interesting was … Naraka Fen'gandu …
That's hell pond for non-maldivians …
It was a pond in the middle of jungle …
It wasn't salt water …  it wasn't fresh water either …
Some kinda mix I guess …  dunno for sure …
When approached from the pathway …
It seemed like a mirror was laid flat on ground …
The water was so still …  not a single ripple on it …
That the reflection of trees surrounding it …
Had a very kewl effect off it …
Not much fish or life in it …
There was a big fallen tree near the pond …
It is said that this tree is more than 100 years old …
Both the pond and the tree made a very nice feature …
All in all …  it was a good trip …

Had to make a one day trip to Addu Atoll ...
Had to get some work done in the south ...
I've been to Addu a couple of times ...
Starting early last year ...
Each and every time I'm there ...
It never fails to amaze me ...
Bee-yoo-ti-ful place I tell you ...
Really it's a very kewl place to visit ...
Absolutely fascinating …
Islands linked by cause ways …
Small uninhabited islands …
Dotted along the main road …
The laid back life style …
And of course the famous/infamous link road …
All 12 km of it …
It's almost a tradition to be on this road …
At around 1800 hrs …  everyday of the week …
Lots of people out for a stroll at that time …
If you know what I mean …   hehe …
And yes …
The late evening bike ride along link road …
It's a 15 minute fast ride from end to end …
Civilization on one side …  the ocean on the other …
Some time so close …  you can almost …
Drag your foot in the ocean …  while riding …
A cool salty wind in your face …
Something happens in those few minutes …
The kind of thing that makes you …
Scream out that you are alive …
The sudden realization of being more than alive …
And the people you think of in those few minutes …
Makes you wanna do something about it …
Addu …  a good place …  A different place …
Been there …  done that …  need to do it again …
Great that some our friends …  who we grew up with …
Are from addu …  and I tell you now …
Guys …  cool place you got there …
The place has got prospects ... I am sure !!!
