Friends you make at check-in counters …
Hello …
Imagine this conversation … does it ring a bell … ?
Guy :: Friend, are you Maldivian … ?
Me :: Yes, I am …
Guy :: Can we check-in together friend… I’m kinda heavy …
Me :: I’m not light either … err … but lets try …
Guy :: OK …
The guy behind the counter doesn’t like this …
So he goes on about how we are not booked together …
And all sorts of airline jargon thingies …
To deter us from checking in together …
The guy behind me takes over the conversation from me …
I was 19 kgs … and he was 9 kgs overweight …
And somehow we end up checking in together …
And the guy didn’t pay a single dollar for excess baggage …
Check-in over, we go our separate ways …
The guy didn’t even thank me … he just left …
I took a casual walk and went to grab a bite to eat …
I bump into the guy there as well ...
He was at the end of the order line …
So I went and stood behind him …
He was loudly speaking into his cell phone …
Apparently he didn’t even notice me …
I boarded the plan a while later …
And this guy comes trudging behind me …
He didn’t even seem to recognize me …
No hello, no raised eyebrows … no nods …
I’m not complaining here …
I don’t mind helping out a fellow Maldivian …
Hell, I don’t mind helping out any traveler …
But I wouldn’t mind an occasional thank you …
What do you guys say … ???
Laterx …

yah really..those people..arrrgh!
(btw, thank you for nething you have done for me, in case ;p)
Yes I agree. This is very common. I do not tolerate this sort of behaviour.
One day I went to a computer shop here in Male\' and while I waited for a quotation I saw who I think was the owner of the business sitting on a stool reading a newspaper. Then some of sheets from the paper fell to the ground. So i picked them up for him and what does he say? Absolutely nothing.
So I excused myself, took the paper from him, removed some sheets and dropped them back on the floor and left the shop.
the typical maldivian style ppl who r so foni n inconsiderate.
PS: dhiraagu sux. i commented b4 too. but page error eh came. dhiraagu sux. err did i say dat b4? nvm
Simon, is that a story you just just made up. Just kidding.
Shocking behaviour. I hope the guy rots in hell.
come on sc, you thank-you whore. haha. anywayz, knw wat u shudda done? told the security that u recongnize the guy as a wanted man in maldives for terrorist links.
you know you could've been into big trouble. how would you know what was in those bags checked in under your name.
never ever check-in strangers bags under your name. never ever ever.
being nice is one thing. selling your ass for it is another. that's called being foolish.
Stupid dude .. the least he could have said was thank you
cmon dude.. what ever happened to unconditional good deeds? lot of good karma there!!unless you want to be a ferengii.. ' no good deed goes unpunished..'
you are absolutely right. this something that really bothers me. it seems most south asian people don't bother to thank people for small or big favours like opening a door for them, helping to serve a coffee or paying for a coffee. once an elderly maldivian said this 'you guys are too western, get a grip, maldivians don't thank each other'
